O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Sociology and Anthropology;
You require; Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, History/Government/Economics one (1) Science subject, and any Arts or Social Science subject
Two of the five places are fixed, English Language and Mathematics. The third is a choice of History, Government or Economics, the fourth must be a science subject, and only the fifth is genuinely open within the Arts or Social Sciences.
The science credit is easy to overlook on a course of this kind. Candidates who filled their result sheet entirely with Arts subjects will fall short even if they pass all five.
Jamb Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Sociology and Anthropology under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at FUOTUOKE include;
Government/ History plus two (2) other Social Sciences/Arts subjects
The UTME list drops the science requirement entirely. Government or History anchors the combination, and the other two papers may come from anywhere in the Arts or Social Sciences, which makes the JAMB form more forgiving than the O Level list.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Sociology and Anthropology if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;

That line settles the matter. A level passes, an NCE or a diploma will not shorten the route into this programme, so holders of those qualifications still have to sit UTME like every other candidate.

Sociology and Anthropology reads like a pure Arts course until you reach the O Level list, where one science credit is required alongside English Language, Mathematics and a choice of History, Government or Economics.
With no Direct Entry option available, there is no second route to fall back on. Check that all five credits are in place, build the UTME combination around Government or History, and clear the 180 minimum for the 2026/2027 session.
