O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Political Science; You require;
Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Government/History, and any other three (3) subjects from Arts/Social Sciences with at least an ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics.
Read that line carefully. Mathematics is required only at ordinary pass level, not at credit level, which is unusual and separates this course from most others at the university.
The five credits themselves must come from English Language, a choice of Government or History, and three more subjects drawn from the Arts or Social Sciences.
Jamb Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Political Science under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at FUOTUOKE include;
Government/History and two (2) other Social Sciences or Arts subjects.
The UTME combination mirrors the O Level list closely. Government or History remains the anchor, English Language is compulsory, and the final two papers are open across the Arts and Social Sciences.
Direct Entry Requirement

You require; Two (2) A’ Level passes to include Government or History.
Direct Entry keeps the same anchor subject. One of the two A Level passes must be Government or History, while the second is not restricted, so the route stays open to a wide range of combinations.
Jamb Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUOTUOKE for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
The Mathematics Rule That Sets FUOTUOKE Political Science Apart
Government or History runs through every stage of this application, in the O Level credits, on the UTME form and in the Direct Entry passes. Build your result sheet around whichever of the two you sat.
Mathematics is the exception worth noting, since an ordinary pass satisfies the requirement rather than a credit. Confirm your five credits, keep three of them in the Arts or Social Sciences, and clear 180 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
