This article is designed to help students who wish to study Physiology under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Health Sciences at the Federal University of Technology (FUTA).
It is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in FUTA to carefully confirm and see if the course they selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.
The Physiology requirements below cover the WAEC or NECO subject combination, the four JAMB UTME papers, and the Direct Entry route for candidates who are not sitting UTME, followed by the minimum JAMB score the university expects.

Admission Requirements for Physiology
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Physiology is Five (5) SSCE credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Physiology at FUTA include Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Physiology if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes chosen from Chemistry, Physics, and Biology/Zoology.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Zoology as the Extra Option at FUTA Physiology
Physics, Chemistry and Biology run through this course from start to finish. All three appear among the five O’level credits, all three fill the UTME papers beside English Language, and the Direct Entry passes come from the same group.
Zoology is the one addition, accepted in place of Biology at Direct Entry only. No equivalent substitution exists at O’level or at UTME.
Mathematics behaves the other way round. It is required among the O’level credits but has no place in the JAMB combination, so it affects your result sheet rather than your registration.
Candidates entering through UTME need a minimum of 180 and above in their JAMB result for the 2026/2027 session. Check all five named O’level subjects before applying, since none of them has a stated alternative.
