The Polytechnic Ibadan has published the admission requirements for its Department of Architectural Technology. The page covers the O’level subject combination, the four papers written at JAMB UTME, and the score the institution requires before a candidate is considered.
Three subjects are fixed at O’level, namely Mathematics, Physics and English Language. Two more come from a list that mixes drawing and design options such as Fine Art and Technical Drawing with Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economics or Commerce and Religious Knowledge.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Architectural Technology include the following:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- English Language and any two subjects from the following:
- Biology
- Fine Art
- Chemistry
- History
- Geography
- Further Mathematics
- Economics/Commerce
- Religious Knowledge
- Technical Drawing
- Business Method
- A pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing will be an advantage.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- Mathematics
- English Language and any three subjects below:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Technical Drawing

Drawing Subjects and IBADANPOLY Architectural Technology
Technical Drawing appears in both lists on this page, which is unusual. It counts as one of the two optional O’level subjects, and it also sits among the UTME papers alongside Physics and Chemistry.
Fine Art, by contrast, is recognised only at O’level and in the advantage note. A candidate relying on art rather than drawing should plan the JAMB combination accordingly.
At UTME, Mathematics and English Language are compulsory, and the remaining papers come from Physics, Chemistry and Technical Drawing. Since Physics is already required among your O’level credits, it is the safest of those to carry forward.
On score, the page gives only the institutional figure of 150 and above in JAMB, with no separate departmental mark published for this course.
