Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Agricultural Technology and Education include the following:

Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or equivalents in English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, and another relevant subject.

Four credits are named and only the fifth is open, described simply as another relevant subject. Agricultural Science is accepted in place of Biology here, as it is on every other route into this department.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.

  • English Language.
  • Any three (3) subjects from Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, Physics, Economics, Geography, and Mathematics.

The JAMB list names no compulsory subject beyond English Language. You choose any three from a list of seven, which is a notably free combination compared with most MAUTECH science courses.

Special Requirement (Waiver) Remarks

MAUTECH requires Biology/Agricultural Science and any two (2) of Economics, Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.

The waiver is stricter than the list above it. Where the general line lets you pick any three of seven subjects, the waiver makes Biology or Agricultural Science compulsory and narrows the remaining two to four options.

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Agricultural Technology & Education if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;

  • Two (2) passes at ‘A’ Level in Biology /Zoology /Botany and any other Science subject.
  • NCE merit in Biology and any other Science subject.
  • NCE merit in Agriculture (Double Major).

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into MAUTECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a score of a minimum of 160 or above in your JAMB result.

About MAUTECH

The  Federal University of Technology, now known as the Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola, is a research-intensive university located in Girei, a town in Adamawa State in Northeastern Nigeria.

It is one of the 27 federal government university systems and one of only 4 federal technology universities established with the sole purpose of advancing science-based research.

The Modibbo Adama University of Technology, (MAUTECH) Yola is accredited by the National Universities Commission. The university offers associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees.

Where Agricultural Science Counts as Biology

The substitution to remember on this course is Agricultural Science for Biology. It holds at O Level, in the MAUTECH waiver and on the Direct Entry routes, so an agricultural background is no obstacle here.

Follow the waiver rather than the broader JAMB list when registering. Biology or Agricultural Science plus two of Economics, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry is what MAUTECH asks, with 160 in JAMB to reach screening.
