Chemistry at Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola sits under the Faculty of Sciences rather than the engineering faculty that dominates the institution. The entry conditions below belong to this course alone at Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola.
Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics run through every stage of the application. They appear in the SSCE credit list, in the UTME combination, and again in the Direct Entry requirement, which leaves candidates very little room to substitute.
Before registering for JAMB, confirm that Chemistry is on the current MAUTECH course list and that your selection has been entered correctly. A course chosen in error cannot be assessed against the conditions set out here.

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Chemistry is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and any science subject.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Chemistry under the Faculty of Sciences at MAUTECH include;
Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Chemistry if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into MAUTECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
The Three Subjects That Decide a MAUTECH Chemistry Application
Five SSCE credits are required, and four of them are already named: Mathematics, English Language, Physics and Chemistry. The fifth is open but must still be a science subject, so an arts paper will not complete the set.
The UTME side repeats the pattern. English Language is compulsory, and the accompanying three are fixed as Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. There is no listed alternative for any of the three.
Direct Entry drops the UTME stage but keeps the same subject field. Two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes are needed in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, so the route saves time without widening the options.
A JAMB score of 180 is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at MAUTECH. Clearing it makes a candidate eligible to be screened rather than guaranteeing a place in the department.
