Education and Chemistry is run by the Faculty of Education at Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola. Although it is an education degree, the subject conditions are as science heavy as the pure science programmes at the same institution.
Chemistry and Mathematics appear together on all three routes. Physics and Biology are added at O’Level, and Physics returns in the UTME combination, so a full science background is effectively assumed.

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Chemistry is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and Chemistry under the Faculty of Education at MAUTECH include;
Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Chemistry if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Mathematics and Chemistry.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into MAUTECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
An Education Degree With Full Science Conditions at MAUTECH
The O’Level requirement names all five credits: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Nothing is left open, so a candidate missing any one of them has no substitute to offer.
Biology appears only at that stage. It is required at credit level but does not feature in the UTME combination or in the Direct Entry list, which is easy to overlook when planning subjects.
The UTME combination keeps English Language compulsory and fixes Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. There is no alternative subject for any of the three.
Direct Entry is the narrowest route here. Two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes are required in Mathematics and Chemistry specifically, with Physics dropping away at that level.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at MAUTECH.
