Computer Science is taught under the Faculty of Sciences at Sokoto State University (SSU). Mathematics and Physics anchor the O’Level requirement, while the UTME route offers one of the widest subject pools on the SSU admissions list.
That contrast matters. A candidate can be comfortably within the UTME combination and still fall short at O’Level, because the two stages name different subjects and apply different levels of strictness.

Confirm that Computer Science appears on the current SSU course list and that your JAMB registration records it correctly before you sit the examination. A course entered in error cannot be assessed against these conditions.

Admission Requirements for Computer Science
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Computer Science is Five (5) SSCE credits in English Language, Mathematics, and Physics plus two other science subjects.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Computer Science at SSU include Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Agric Science, Economics, and Geography.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Computer Science if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Biology.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into SSU for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
A Narrow O Level and a Wide UTME Pool at SSU Computer Science
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in English Language, Mathematics and Physics plus two other science subjects. Three papers are named and the remaining two must still come from the sciences.
Physics is the condition that catches people out. It is compulsory at credit level here even though a candidate could build a valid UTME combination without ever offering it.
The UTME subjects are drawn from a pool of Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Agric Science, Economics and Geography, with English Language compulsory alongside them. Economics and Geography sit in that list despite not counting as sciences at O’Level.
Direct Entry asks for two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes from Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology. The pool is smaller than the UTME one and admits no social science subject at all.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at SSU.
