MAUTECH Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering Admission Requirement

MAUTECH

Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola offers Electrical / Electronic Engineering under its Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology, and this page sets out the WAEC and NECO credits, the JAMB UTME combination and Direct Entry.

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry run through every route into this department. All three are named O’Level credits, all three are written in the UTME, and Direct Entry draws its two passes from the same set.

Biology is the exception. It is the fifth named O’Level credit for this engineering programme, yet it appears in neither the UTME combination nor the Direct Entry condition.

About Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola

Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, is a research-intensive university located in Girei a town in Adamawa State in Northeastern Nigeria.

It was established in 1981 by the government of Nigeria to create Universities that specialise in producing graduates with practical and theoretical knowledge of Technology.

Admission Requirements for Electrical / Electronic Engineering

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination

The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Electrical / Electronic Engineering is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Every subject is specified, so there is no flexible credit. Candidates who dropped Biology to concentrate on the physical sciences will find it is still required here.

JAMB Subject Combination

In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.

Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Electrical / Electronic Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology at MAUTECH include;

Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.

No alternatives are offered in the UTME, and all three are already required credits. Your JAMB preparation therefore covers the same ground as four of your five O’Level subjects.

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Electrical / Electronic Engineering if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.

Only two of the three are needed at this stage, so Direct Entry is the one route that does not demand all of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry together.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into MAUTECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.

Biology Sits Among the Five Credits for MAUTECH Electrical and Electronic Engineering

It is the one requirement that does not follow from the rest of the page, since neither the UTME nor Direct Entry mentions Biology at all. The O’Level list names it all the same.

Everything else is what an engineering applicant would expect. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are compulsory at O’Level and in JAMB, with English Language alongside them.

Direct Entry needs only two A Level or NCE passes from those three sciences, and UTME candidates need 180 or above in JAMB to reach the MAUTECH screening.
