This is to notify the general public and all aspiring students of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, (MAUTECH) Yola that the Department of Statistics admission requirements has been published.

Statistics at MAUTECH states its O Level requirement twice, and the two lists of acceptable subjects are not the same. The difference decides whether subjects like Computer Studies count towards your five credits.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Statistics include the following:
Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, and at least three (3) subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics, and Geography.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
MAUTECH requires three (3) other ‘O’ level credit passes from Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Computer Studies, and IT/Data Processing
Both ask for English Language, Mathematics and three further credits, but draw those three from different lists. The general line names Statistics and Further Mathematics, while the waiver drops both and adds Biology, Computer Studies and IT or Data Processing. Follow the waiver.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Mathematics and any two subjects from below:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Economics
The JAMB combination is much narrower than either O Level list. Mathematics is compulsory and the two remaining subjects come from Physics, Chemistry and Economics alone, so one of those three is always left out.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Statistics if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Mathematics or Statistics
- NCE credit in relevant subjects
Direct Entry is where Statistics is recognised as a subject in its own right. Either Mathematics or Statistics satisfies the A Level condition, and an NCE credit is accepted instead.

Two O Level Lists That Do Not Agree
The point to settle before applying is which O Level list applies to you. The MAUTECH waiver is the one that governs, and it accepts Computer Studies, IT or Data Processing and Biology where the general line does not.
Mathematics is required throughout, with Statistics accepted beside it at Direct Entry. Secure English Language, Mathematics and three credits from the waiver list, then score at least 160 in JAMB to reach screening.
