This is to notify the general public and all aspiring students of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, (MAUTECH) Yola that the Department of Surveying & Geo-Informatics admission requirements has been published.
Surveying & Geo-Informatics has one of the longest accepted subject lists at MAUTECH. Four credits are fixed and the fifth may be drawn from more than twenty subjects, many of them from technical and building trades.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Surveying and Geo-Informatics include the Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry and one subject from below:
- Fine Arts
- Geography or Wood Work
- Biology
- Economics
- Technical Drawing
- Further Mathematics
- Introduction to Building Construction
- Bricklaying/Block laying
- Concreting, Wall, Floors, and Ceiling Finishing
- Joinery
- Carpentary
- Decorative Painting
- Lining, Sign & Design
- Wall Hanging
- Color Mixing/Matching & Glazing
- Ceramics
- Graphics Design
- Graphic Printing
- Basic Electricity
Read the list above as four required credits followed by the options for the fifth. English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are compulsory, and everything from Fine Arts onwards is an alternative for the last place.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics, and any of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology, and Economics
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
MAUTECH requires Physics, Mathematics, and any one of Chemistry, Geography, Biology/ Agric. Science and Economics
The waiver and the list above it do not match exactly. The general list offers Art as an option while the waiver leaves it out and adds Agricultural Science. The waiver is the MAUTECH instruction, so follow it when registering.

Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Surveying and Geo-Informatics if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Mathematics or Physics and Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts.
- ND/HND upper credits in relevant field.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into MAUTECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a score of a minimum of 160 or above in your JAMB result.

A Fifth Credit From the Building Trades
What distinguishes this course is the breadth of that final O Level slot. Bricklaying, joinery, carpentry, ceramics, graphic printing and basic electricity all count, which opens the department to technical college candidates.
The fixed part is unchanging though. English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are required at O Level, Physics and Mathematics anchor the JAMB combination, and a score of 160 reaches screening.
