This is to notify the general public and all aspiring students of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, (MAUTECH) Yola, that the Department of Statistics Education admission requirements has been published.

Statistics Education trains teachers of statistics, and MAUTECH admits it on a mathematics and science footing. The department also recognises a teacher training certificate in place of the usual O Level result, which is set out below.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Statistics Education include the following:
Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, plus one other Science subject.
Special Requirement (Waiver) Remarks
MAUTECH requires
- Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in the relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics.
- Grade II Teachers’ Certificate merit in five (5) relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics.
The MAUTECH waiver differs from the line above it. The general requirement names one science subject beside English Language and Mathematics, while the waiver asks only for relevant subjects and adds the Grade II Teachers’ Certificate.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Mathematics and any two of the following Science subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
Mathematics is compulsory at UTME and two sciences follow it, chosen from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. You therefore leave one of those three out, which is the only choice the combination allows.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Statistics Education if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two ‘A’ level/NCE passes in Mathematics and one Science subject.

Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
MAUTECH accepts NCE in relevant subjects, not below merit.
Read that alongside the Direct Entry condition above. An NCE stands in for A Level passes provided it is at merit or better.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into MAUTECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a score of a minimum of 160 or above in your JAMB result.
About MAUTECH
The Federal University of Technology, now known as the Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola, is a research-intensive university located in Girei, a town in Adamawa State in Northeastern Nigeria.
It is one of the 27 federal government university systems and one of only 4 federal technology universities established with the sole purpose of advancing science-based research.
The Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola is accredited by the National Universities Commission. The university offers associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees.
The Teachers Certificate Route Into Statistics Education
Most candidates will enter this department on five O Level credits including English Language and Mathematics. What sets MAUTECH apart here is that a Grade II Teachers’ Certificate at merit is accepted in their place.
The same openness runs through Direct Entry, where an NCE at merit stands in for A Level passes. Mathematics is required on every route, and a JAMB score of 160 is enough to reach screening.
