Computer Education is admitted under the Faculty of Education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. It trains teachers of computing, and the requirements mix the sciences with a commercial subject in a way few other courses do.
The O Level and JAMB lists here do not line up, which is the detail most worth your attention. One asks for a full science result and the other asks for Economics or Commerce.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Computer Education; You require;
Five (5) SSC credit passes, including Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
All five credits are named, so nothing is left open at this stage. The requirement is a complete science result, identical to what the pure science departments at UNN ask for.
Jamb Subject Combination
In UTME, the English Language is compulsory for this course. The three (3) other JAMB UTME subjects needed to study Computer Education under the Faculty of Education at UNN are listed below.
Mathematics, Economics/ Commerce plus one (1) of Chemistry/Physics/Biology
This is where the course departs from the science pattern. Economics or Commerce is required at UTME even though neither appears among the O Level credits, and only one science is carried through beside Mathematics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Computer Education if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2)’A’ Level passes or their equivalents in Physics and Mathematics.
- ND in Computer Science
- NCE distinction credit or merit in Computer Education, Physics or Mathematics
Direct Entry returns to a technical footing. A National Diploma in Computer Science is accepted outright, as is an NCE in Computer Education, Physics or Mathematics, and the A Level route asks for Physics and Mathematics.
Jamb Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNN for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 200 or above in your JAMB result.
A Commercial Subject in a Science Combination
Computer Education asks for five science credits at O Level, then requires Economics or Commerce at UTME alongside Mathematics and a single science. Candidates who prepare only for the sciences can be caught out by that switch.
Mathematics is the constant across all three routes. Secure the five named credits, register Mathematics with Economics or Commerce and one science, and score at least 200 in JAMB to reach screening.
