The National Universities Commission (NUC) is endowed with the statutory responsibility of accrediting academic programs across all Nigerian Universities.

In adherence to the current government-approved guidelines, the initial accreditation of a new program occurs after the program has been operational for two academic sessions subsequent to its approval for establishment.

Following this period, the Commission systematically accredits the approved programs at scheduled intervals.

As part of this routine, the NUC accredited academic programs at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, in October/November 2025.
