This is to inform the general public and all aspiring students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) that the admission requirements for the Department of Environmental Education have been published.
The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.

The University of Benin is a federal government-owned university funded and managed by the federal government of Nigeria. The university was founded in 1970. University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a research university located in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Environmental Education include the following:
- Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, and any Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Health Science, and Agricultural Science
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
UNIBEN requires Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics or Geography
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Mathematics and two (2) others from Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Direct Entry Requirement
You need to fulfill these conditions to gain Direct Entry admission to study Environmental Education if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- NCE or ND with three (3) ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language and ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics, is mandatory.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIBEN for the 2026/2027 session should know that you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result to be eligible for the screening.
Two Different Mathematics Rules in UNIBEN Environmental Education
Mathematics is treated differently depending on how you enter. UTME candidates need it among their five SSCE credit passes and again among their four JAMB papers. Direct Entry candidates holding an NCE or ND need only an ordinary O’level pass in it.
That Direct Entry route also lowers the credit count, asking for three O’level credit passes including English Language rather than five. It is the more forgiving of the two paths for anyone whose Mathematics result fell short of a credit.
On subjects, the waiver remark names Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics or Geography, which brings Geography into play even though it is absent from the main O’level list. UTME candidates still need 200 or above in JAMB for the 2026/2027 screening.
