O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Botany; You require;
Five (5) SSC Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Jamb Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Botany under the Faculty of Sciences in the above Universities include;
Biology, Chemistry, and any other Science subject
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Botany if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry or Physics.
Jamb Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIBEN for the 2026/2027 session should know that you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result to be eligible for the screening.
Physics and the UNIBEN Botany Entry Lists
The O’level demand for Botany names all five subjects outright, namely English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There is no free choice and no alternative subject offered in place of any of them.
At UTME the fourth paper opens up. Biology and Chemistry are fixed alongside the compulsory English Language, and the remaining slot takes any other science subject, so Physics is one option there rather than an obligation.
Direct Entry narrows things again in its own way. Two A’level passes are needed, one from Biology, Botany or Zoology, and the second from Chemistry or Physics. UTME applicants must also reach 200 or above in JAMB for the 2026/2027 screening.
