The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study History include the following:
Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include History and English Language.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- History and any other two subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
UNIBEN accepts History or Government, one Arts subject, and any other subject.
Direct Entry Requirement
You need to fulfill these conditions to gain Direct Entry admission to study History if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in History and other related subjects.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
UNIBEN accepts an ‘A’ Level pass in Government in lieu of History, NCE credit in History, Government, or Social Studies.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIBEN for the 2026/2027 session should know that you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result to be eligible for the screening.
What UNIBEN History Applicants Should Settle Before Screening
Two figures decide whether your application even reaches the screening stage. You need five SSCE credit passes that include History and English Language, and a JAMB score of 200 or above for the 2026/2027 session. Neither of those is a target you can negotiate later.
The waiver lines are worth reading twice, because they widen the door more than most candidates expect. Government is accepted in place of History at both O’level and A’level, and an NCE credit in History, Government or Social Studies also counts at Direct Entry.
