UNIBEN accepts ‘O’ level passes in the English Language for candidates with distinction in Literature in English.
This remark lowers one bar rather than raising another. A candidate who earned a distinction in Literature in English may offer a pass in English Language instead of the credit the main list requires.

In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.

A Nigerian Language Credit Is the Price of Entry to UNIBEN Linguistics and Edo
Edo is the language the department prefers, and a Nigerian Language sits alongside English Language and Literature in English as a named O’Level credit. Candidates who did not offer one will struggle to qualify.
In exchange, the department is lenient elsewhere. Mathematics is only an optional pass, two of the five credits are unspecified, and the waiver allows a pass in English Language for a distinction in Literature.
Direct Entry takes two A Level passes or an NCE at merit in any two Arts subjects. UTME candidates need 200 or above in JAMB before UNIBEN will screen them.
