The University of Jos strives to maintain its reputation as a globally ranked university that provides an excellent educational experience with a significant societal impact.

UNIJOS, a renowned academic institution, has over 12 faculties offering relevant and relatable courses in various disciplines.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Electrical/Electronic Engineering include the following:

Five SSCE credit passes to include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, and any other Science subject.

Four of the five credits are named and the fifth must be another Science subject, so there is no free choice at this stage.

Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks

UNIJOS – requires two (2) ‘A’ Level or IJMB passes from Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. Accepts ND credit in Civil Engineering or related programs from a recognized institution. Accepts ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics.

IJMB passes are placed on exactly the same footing as A Levels here, which matters to anyone who took the Interim Joint Matriculation Board route rather than sitting A Levels. A National Diploma at credit is recognised as well.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.

  • English Language.
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry

There is nothing to decide on the UTME form. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry join the compulsory English Language, mirroring the core of the O Level requirement.

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Electrical/Electronic Engineering if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;

Two ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIJOS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 180 or above in your JAMB result.

IJMB Passes Count the Same as A Levels

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are the spine of this course. They are named O Level credits, they are the three UTME papers beside English Language, and two of them have to be among your Direct Entry passes.

The one place the page opens up is in the waiver remarks, where IJMB passes are accepted on the same terms as A Levels and a National Diploma at credit is recognised too. UTME candidates still need the five credits and at least 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
