UNIJOS Department of Fine and Applied Arts Admission Requirement 2024/2025

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Fine and Applied Arts under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the University of Jos.

UNIJOS

 As it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in UNIJOS  to carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

What became the University of Jos was established in November 1971 from the elite campus of the University of Ibadan. The first students were admitted in January 1972 as pre-degree students, and the first Bachelor of Arts degree program began in October 1973.

In October 1975, the military government under General Murtala Mohammed established the Unijos as a separate institution. The first Vice-Chanc\ellor of the Unijos was Professor Gilbert Onuaguluchi.

Classes began at the newly reorganized University of Jos in October 1976, with 575 students spreading over the existing four faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Education, Natural Sciences, and Medical Sciences.

Post-graduate programs were added in 1977. By 1978 Faculties of Law and Environmental Sciences were established, and the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences were separated.

In 2003, the Carnegie Corporation of New York gave Unijos a $2 million grant to form its own fundraising department.

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Fine and Applied Arts;

You Require

  • Five (5) SSC passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Fine Arts, and two (2) other social science subjects. Mathematics, Arts, and one Social Science subject.
  • For NTC, the other two (2) relevant subjects could be from any of the following: Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Lining, Sign and Design; Wall Handling, and Colour Mixing/ For NTC, the other two (2) relevant subjects could be from any of the following: Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Lining, Sign and Design; Wall Handling, Colour Mixing/Matching, and Glazing; Graphic Painting; Ceramics; Basic Electricity; Building/Engineering Drawing.

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Fine and Applied Arts if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You Require

  • Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Fine Arts/Technical Drawing and any one of Mathematics, Economics, Geography., Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • ND/HND credit in Fine Arts.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIJOS for the 2024/2025 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a score of a minimum of  180 and above in your JAMB result.
