UNILAG is a federal government research university in Lagos State. It remains among the most competitive institutions in the country for admissions and holds one of the largest student populations of any Nigerian university.
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are compulsory at every stage of this course, but the O’Level section is unusually generous about what can fill the remaining place.
NTC holders in particular are well served, with a long list of construction trade subjects recognised alongside the conventional school subjects.

Direct Entry Requirement for Building Technology
Below is the DIRECT ENTRY (DE) Requirement for Building Technology in the faculty of Engineering/Environment/Technology;
- ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
JAMB Score
For any candidate to be admitted to any Department in the University of Lagos, the Candidate must score 200 and above in JAMB.
Construction Trade Subjects Count at UNILAG Building Technology
The O’Level requirement is five SSC credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and one of Geography, Economics, Arts or Technical Drawing.
For NTC holders that last place opens considerably. Introduction to Building Construction, bricklaying, concreting, wall, floor and ceiling finishing and Building or Engineering Drawing all qualify.
So do joinery, carpentry, gas, steam and bronze welding, cold and hot water supply, sanitation and drainage, which covers most of a technical college building syllabus.
The JAMB combination is fixed at English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, and Direct Entry asks for A level passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Those three sciences are therefore the non negotiable part of any application here. The JAMB score for any UNILAG department is 200 and above.
