Yoruba is taught in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The requirements are short, and they rest almost entirely on one subject appearing in the right places on your results.
The University of Lagos is a federal government research university in Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria. The JAMB score quoted on this page is an institutional condition rather than a departmental one, so it applies to Yoruba exactly as it does elsewhere.
The university has remained one of the most competitive in the country regarding admissions. UNILAG has one of the largest student populations of any university in the country.

O’Level Subject Combination
Below is the UTME Requirement for YORUBA in the faculty of Arts and Humanities;
- Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Yoruba and English Language.
JAMB Subject Combination
Below is the UTME/JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION for YORUBA in the Arts and Humanities faculty.
- English Language(*), Yoruba, and two (2) other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.

JAMB Score
For any candidate to be admitted to any Department in the University of Lagos, the Candidate must score 200 and above in JAMB.
Yoruba at UNILAG Rests on Two Named Subjects
The O’Level condition is five SSC credit passes that must include Yoruba and English Language. Only two papers are named, so the other three credits are entirely the candidate’s choice.
That makes this one of the more accessible combinations in the faculty. A candidate with mixed credits can still qualify provided the Yoruba and English Language results are both at credit level.
The UTME combination adds little. English Language is compulsory, Yoruba is fixed, and the remaining two subjects may be any Arts or Social Science papers.
Direct Entry introduces the only alternative on the page. Two ‘A’ level passes are required and may include Yoruba or Literature in English, so the Yoruba paper itself is not strictly compulsory on that route.
The JAMB score requirement is 200 and above, applied to any department at the University of Lagos. With the subject conditions this open, the score is often what separates one Yoruba applicant from another.
