Education and Biology is a combined degree at Sokoto State University (SSU). Biology is named on all three entry routes, and the subjects around it are drawn from the sciences at every stage of the application.
The O’Level line is the most prescriptive, the UTME combination offers a choice of two from three, and Direct Entry leaves the second subject open. Each route should be read on its own terms.

About Sokoto State University
The Sokoto State University (SSU) is located in Sokoto State, Nigeria.
It was established in 2009 as part of a motivated effort on the part of the Sokoto State to satisfy the quest of the people of the state for excellence and education.
It began as the Sokoto State University School of Developmental Studies, which ran a one-year degree program to prepare students for the University.
Admission Requirements for Education and Biology
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Biology is Five (5) SSCE credits in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and one other subject.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and Biology at SSU include Biology and any two subjects in Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Biology if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Biology and one other Science subject.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into SSU for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Biology Plus a Science Partner at SSU Education and Biology
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics, plus one other subject. Four papers are named, so only the fifth credit is genuinely free.
That fifth slot is described simply as one other subject rather than one other science subject. On a strict reading it is the only place on this page where a non-science paper can count.
The UTME combination fixes Biology beside the compulsory English Language, then asks for any two of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Physics appears here but not in the O’Level list.
Direct Entry needs two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes, one in Biology and one in any other science subject. It is the shortest route to state and the most flexible in its second choice.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at SSU.
