This is to notify the general public and all aspiring students of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) that the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering admission requirements has been published.
The sections below cover the O’Level subject combination, the four subjects sat in JAMB UTME, the A Level route into Direct Entry, and the JAMB score needed to be eligible for screening into Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
The department works from the standard engineering science base. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are required at O’Level and repeated in full as the UTME combination alongside the compulsory English Language.
Only the fifth O’Level credit is open, and it must still be a science subject. Candidates with four of the five and an arts subject in the final slot will not meet the condition, so check your result slip before registering.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Electrical/Electronic Engineering include the following:
Five SSCE credit passes to include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any other Science subject.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.

- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry

The Short Checklist for UNIMAID Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Three things decide a UTME application here. Five SSCE credit passes covering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and one more science subject, the four JAMB subjects of English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and a score of at least 160.
Direct Entry rests on two A Level passes drawn from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Any two of those three satisfy the department, so a candidate who dropped one of them at A Level can still apply through this route.
Engineering places at Maiduguri are competitive, so treat 160 as the eligibility floor rather than a target. Check the departmental cut-off mark published for the session, and keep your O’Level and JAMB slips ready for the screening exercise.
