Education and Music is offered at the University Of Nigeria (UNN), Nsukka. This page covers the O’Level credit passes required, the UTME subject combination, the Direct Entry route for A Level and NCE holders, and the JAMB score.
Music is the subject that decides this application. It is one of the five O’Level credit passes, it is named in the UTME combination, and it must appear among the Direct Entry passes as well.
That single condition rules out a large number of otherwise strong candidates, since Music is not offered at every secondary school. Check your statement of result for it before planning around this course.

The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.

Direct Entry Requirement
You need the following to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Music if you don’t intend to use UTME.
- Two ‘A’ level passes /NCE merit in Music and any other relevant subject.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNN for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 200 or above in your JAMB result.
No Music Credit, No UNN Education and Music Place
The O’Level condition names only two of the five credits, Music and English Language, which leaves three open. That is unusually generous, but the Music credit itself is not negotiable at any stage of the process.
In UTME, register English Language and Music, then two arts or social science subjects. Candidates who sat Music at SSCE will normally have the supporting arts subjects to complete the combination.
Direct Entry takes two A Level passes or an NCE at merit covering Music and one other relevant subject. UTME applicants also need a JAMB score of at least 200 to be eligible for screening at Nsukka.
