Religious Studies is named on every route into this department, and in each case it has to be supported by Arts subjects rather than sciences.

The Ordinary Level condition also accepts a TC II at merit in place of five credit passes, which gives teacher training certificate holders a way in.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Religious Studies include the following:

  • Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or TC II merit in five (5) subjects, including English Language, Religious Studies, and three (3) other Arts subjects.

Two subjects are named and the other three must be Arts subjects, so the whole set of five is effectively confined to the humanities.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB

  • English Language
  • Two (2) Arts subjects, including Religious studies, and any one (1) subject

Read in full that is English Language, two Arts subjects of which one must be Religious Studies, and one further subject of any kind.

The last place is the only unrestricted one anywhere in this requirement, so a candidate may use a science or commercial paper there.

Direct Entry Requirement

You need to fulfill these conditions to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Religious Studies if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require:

  • Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/NCE merit in Religious Studies and one (1) other Arts subject

Advanced Level passes and an NCE at merit count equally here, and Religious Studies must be one of the two qualifications in either case.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted to the  Adeyemi College Of Education for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 120 or above in your JAMB result.

About Adeyemi College of Education

ACEONDO, also known as Adeyemi College of Education, is a Federal College in Ondo State, Nigeria’s southwest. The Nigerian federal government manages the college.

The College was founded in 1964 and named after a Nigerian educator. It is affiliated with the prestigious OAU in Ile-Ife.

The college aspires to be the reference point for teacher education in Nigeria, educating students in international academic and moral standards.

An Arts Requirement for ACEONDO Education and Religious Studies

Every list here is built around Religious Studies and Arts subjects, which makes this department a natural fit for candidates from a humanities background.

The TC II merit option at Ordinary Level is easy to overlook and worth checking if you hold a teacher training certificate rather than five credits.

Direct entry candidates pair Religious Studies with one other Arts subject, while UTME candidates need a JAMB score of at least 120 for the screening exercise.
