Geography and Literature in English are both compulsory here, which is an unusual pairing. Each appears in the Ordinary Level credits and again in the JAMB combination.

The remaining place on either list may be an Arts or a Social Science subject, so the department does not confine itself to the humanities alone.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study English/Geography include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Geography
  • Literature in English
  • Any other Arts/Social Science subjects

Four of the five credits are named, with Mathematics among them. Only the fifth is chosen by the candidate, and it must come from the Arts or the Social Sciences.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB

  • English Language
  • Geography
  • Literature in English
  • One other Arts/Social Science subject

Mathematics drops out at this stage. The JAMB registration carries English Language, Geography, Literature in English and one more Arts or Social Science paper.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted to the  Adeyemi College Of Education for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 120 or above in your JAMB result.

That score decides who is invited to the screening exercise. It establishes eligibility rather than securing a place in the department.

About Adeyemi College of Education

ACEONDO, also known as Adeyemi College of Education, is a Federal College in Ondo State, Nigeria’s southwest. The Nigerian federal government manages the college.

The College was founded in 1964 and named after a Nigerian educator. It is affiliated with the prestigious OAU in Ile-Ife.

The college aspires to be the reference point for teacher education in Nigeria, educating students in international academic and moral standards.

Pairing Geography With Literature at ACEONDO English and Geography

Candidates need results that span both halves of the title, since Geography and Literature in English are each required twice over in this requirement.

Mathematics should not be forgotten either, as it is one of the four named Ordinary Level credits even though it plays no part in the JAMB combination.

One place on each list stays open to an Arts or Social Science subject, and the JAMB score has to reach 120 for the college screening exercise.
