This article is designed to help students who wish to study Education and History under the Faculty of Education at Federal University, Otuoke.
Confirm the course is offered at FUOTUOKE before registering for JAMB, and read the O Level and UTME lines against each other, because one restricts you to the Arts and the other quietly does not.

About Federal University, Otuoke
The Federal University, Otuoke, is a federal government-owned University located in Otuoke, a town in Ogbia’s local government area of Bayelsa State, Southern Nigeria. The University was established in 2011 and started with 282 pioneer students.
It offers degree courses at undergraduate levels. The University offers undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Science, Management Science, Social Science, Humanities, Education, Engineering, and Technology.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and History are as follows:
Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, History, and three (3) relevant Arts subjects.
English Language and History are the only credits named. The other three are described as relevant Arts subjects, which keeps the whole O Level requirement inside the humanities.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and History under the Faculty of Education at FUOTUOKE include;
History and any other two (2) subjects chosen from Christian Religious Studies / Islamic Studies, Literature in English, French, Yoruba, Geography/Physics, Economics, Government, and Hausa.
This list is broader than the wording above suggests. Economics and Government belong to the Social Sciences rather than the Arts, and Physics is offered beside Geography, so a candidate is not confined to humanities papers on the JAMB form.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and History if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
Two (2) NCE merit/’A’ Level passes in History and one (1) other relevant Arts subject.
Direct Entry returns to the narrower wording. History is compulsory and the single companion pass must be a relevant Arts subject, with an NCE at merit accepted on the same footing as an A Level pass.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUOTUOKE for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
The O Level Line Says Arts, the UTME List Does Not
History is the one subject named on every route and it cannot be substituted at any stage. Everything beside it is governed by a category rather than a name, and the category is not the same each time.
At O Level and at Direct Entry the companion subjects must be Arts subjects. On the JAMB form the published list reaches into the Social Sciences and even into Physics, so a science-stream candidate holding History has a way in. FUOTUOKE asks for a minimum of 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
