The Federal University, Otuoke, is a federal government-owned University located in Otuoke, a town in Ogbia’s local government area of Bayelsa State, Southern Nigeria. The University was established in 2011 and started with 282 pioneer students.
It offers degree courses at undergraduate levels. The University offers undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Science, Management Science, Social Science, Humanities, Education, Engineering, and Technology.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Physics are as follows:
Five (5)’O’ Level credits pass to include English Language, Physics, Mathematics, and two (2) other Science subjects or NTC/NBC.
Three credits are named and the remaining two must be Science subjects. The line then adds NTC and NBC as recognised qualifications, which brings candidates from technical and business colleges into scope.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and Physics under the Faculty of Education at FUOTUOKE include;
Physics, Mathematics, or Chemistry plus one (1) other subject.
Physics is compulsory on the JAMB form beside English Language. The third paper is Mathematics or Chemistry, and the fourth is open to any subject, so only half the combination is actually fixed.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Physics if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Physics and Mathematics.
- NCE credit/merit in relevant subjects.
Direct Entry drops the Chemistry option. Both A Level passes must be in Physics and Mathematics, while the NCE route is written loosely and asks only for relevant subjects at credit or merit.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUOTUOKE for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Two Science Credits, or a Technical Certificate Instead
Physics and Mathematics are the pair this course is built on. Both are named O Level credits and both are the required Direct Entry passes, while on the JAMB form Physics stays compulsory and Mathematics can give way to Chemistry.
The part worth noticing is the end of the O Level line, where an NTC or NBC is accepted in place of the two further Science credits. That keeps the course open to technical and business college candidates. FUOTUOKE asks for a minimum of 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
