Environment Science is taught under the Faculty of Sciences at The Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE). The O’Level requirement names all five credits with nothing left open.
Chemistry is the only paper required on every route. Biology is fixed at UTME but gains Zoology and Botany as alternatives at Direct Entry.

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Environment Science is Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Environment Science under the Faculty of Sciences at FUPRE include;
Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Environment Science if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one from Biology, Zoology or Botany.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUPRE for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Chemistry Runs Through Every FUPRE Environment Science Route
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Every slot is named, so a missing credit cannot be replaced.
The UTME combination relaxes by one place. English Language is compulsory, Biology and Chemistry are fixed, and the third paper is either Physics or Mathematics.
Direct Entry is the only stage where the biological sciences broaden. Two ‘A’ level passes are required in Chemistry and any one of Biology, Zoology or Botany.
Mathematics and Physics both drop out at that level, leaving Chemistry as the single subject a candidate cannot avoid anywhere on this page.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at FUPRE and applies whichever route a candidate uses.
