Admission Requirements for Marine Science and Technology
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Marine Science and Technology is Five (5) SSCE credits in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology/Agricultural Science.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Marine Science and Technology at FUTA include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, and two (2) other science subjects.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Marine Science and Technology if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require Biology, Zoology or Botany and one other Science subject.
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in any 200 or 300-level course at the NCE/HND/OND program.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Biology Carries FUTA Marine Science and Technology
Biology is the subject this department builds on. It is named at O’level, where Agricultural Science is accepted in its place, named again at UTME, and named at Direct Entry alongside Zoology and Botany.
Those two alternatives appear only on the Direct Entry route, so a candidate with A’level Zoology or Botany has an opening that UTME applicants do not.
Direct Entry also accepts two A’level or NCE passes at 200 or 300 level through an NCE, HND or OND programme, which widens the route further.
The university has a competitive admissions process and does not consider a student’s age, cultural background or religion when deciding whether to admit them. A minimum of 180 and above in JAMB applies for the 2026/2027 session.
