Admission requirements for the Department of Petroleum Engineering at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) have been published, covering the O’Level credits, the JAMB papers, the Direct Entry route and the JAMB score.

Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics appear in all three sections of this page, and Direct Entry requires all three at A level rather than any two of them.
That makes it a stricter advanced level condition than the neighbouring Metallurgical and Material Engineering department applies.

Three A Levels Required for FUTO Petroleum Engineering Direct Entry
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any one Science subject, so only the fifth place is open.
The JAMB papers are English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, repeating the four named credits exactly.
Direct Entry asks for A level passes to include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, all three rather than a choice between them.
A candidate holding only two of those at A level cannot use this route and would need to apply through UTME instead.
A JAMB score of 160 or above makes you eligible for screening in the 2026/2027 session.
