JAMB Releases List of Prohibited Items In Exam Hall

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed its policy that candidates cannot bring electronic devices into the examination hall for the upcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Furthermore, JAMB has released a comprehensive list of items that are prohibited within its facilities for the duration of this year’s examination.

Candidates are advised to review this list in advance to ensure compliance and avoid any inconvenience on the day of the exam.

JAMB List of Prohibited Items

The items are:

  • Electronic devices such as:
    • mobile phones
    • calculators
    • wristwatches
    • recorders
  • Spy reading glasses
  • Cameras
  • Earpiece
  • Bluetooth devices
  • USB
  • CD
  • Hard disk and other similar storage devices
  • Pen/biro
  • Smart lenses
  • Books or any reading/writing material
  • Ink/pen readers
  • Key holders
  • ATM cards
  • Erasers
  • Smart rings/Jewelry

The report states in part: “To ensure that board exams meet the best international standards, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has prohibited using the following materials during exams.

“Candidates are hereby advised not to bring these items close to the examination venue in their best interest. Any breach of this directive would bar the candidates from taking the examination.”

JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed that some candidates who breached the directive and brought some devices to the hall last year were caught and handed over to security agencies.
