Biochemistry closes off every O’level shortcut. All five credit passes are named, covering English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology, so there is no optional subject anywhere in that requirement.
The UTME combination is only slightly looser. Biology and Chemistry are compulsory alongside English Language, and the fourth paper is Physics or Mathematics. Since both of those are already required at O’level, the choice affects your JAMB registration rather than your result sheet.
Direct Entry adds two options. Either two A’level passes from Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology, or an NCE, ND or HND in a related programme taken together with the UTME requirements. The 200 JAMB benchmark applies for the 2026/2027 screening.
