The waiver section on this page is worth reading before anything else, because it rules out a route that most other UNIJOS courses leave open. Below are the O Level credits, the UTME combination, the Direct Entry list, those waiver remarks and the required score.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Criminology & Security Studies are as follows:
English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two of the Arts or Social Science subjects.
Three credits are named and the last two must come from the Arts or the Social Sciences, so all five places are accounted for.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Economics and one subject from below:
- Government
- History
- Geography
- Literature in English
- French
- CRK/IRK
Three of the four UTME papers carry straight over from O Level. Only the fourth is a choice, and it is drawn from the six subjects listed beneath it.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Criminology & Security Studies if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
Two ‘A’ level passes in Economics and any one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History, and Government.
Direct Entry is the widest part of the page. Economics is the only compulsory pass and the second comes from a list that reaches into the sciences, which the earlier sections never do.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
UNIJOS does not require an ‘O’ Level credit pass in History and does not accept ND, HND, and NCE as entry requirements.
Most waiver sections add qualifications. This one takes them away, refusing the National Diploma, the HND and the NCE outright.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIJOS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 180 or above in your JAMB result.
A Waiver That Closes Doors Instead of Opening Them
The two remarks in that section pull in opposite directions from the rest of the page. One removes a History credit requirement, and the other shuts out the diploma routes entirely by refusing the ND, the HND and the NCE.
That makes UTME and A Level the only ways in. Hold credits in English Language, Mathematics and Economics plus two Arts or Social Science subjects, add one subject from the published UTME list, and score at least 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
