Agriculture at UNIJOS treats several subjects as interchangeable, and knowing which pairs can be swapped is most of what a candidate needs. Below are the O Level credits, the UTME combination, the Direct Entry condition and the score required for screening.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Agriculture include Five SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
English Language, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, and any one of Mathematics, Physics, Geography, and Economics
Chemistry is compulsory and Biology may be replaced by Agricultural Science. The fourth named place is a single choice from Mathematics, Physics, Geography and Economics, which is a wide field for a science course.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Biology/Agricultural Science
- Physics or Mathematics
- Chemistry
The UTME form repeats the same substitutions. Agricultural Science again stands in for Biology, and the third science is Physics or Mathematics, so a candidate never has to offer both.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Agriculture if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
Two (2) A-level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science, Economics, Physics, Geography, and Geology/Mathematics.
Direct Entry pins down only one pass. Chemistry is compulsory and the second comes from a long list that now adds Botany, Zoology and Geology to the subjects already seen.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIJOS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 180 or above in your JAMB result.
Physics or Mathematics, Never Both Required
Chemistry is the subject with no alternative anywhere on this page. It is a named O Level credit, it is on the UTME combination, and it is the one compulsory Direct Entry pass.
Everything around it can be swapped. Agricultural Science substitutes for Biology at both O Level and UTME, and Physics and Mathematics are offered against each other rather than together at every stage. Hold Chemistry, pick whichever of that pair suits you, and score at least 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
