About The University of Jos

UNIJOS, officially established as a Federal Government-University by the Federal Government in 1975, has since evolved into an innovative institution charged with fashioning tastes and attitudes for the future.

The University of Jos strives to maintain its reputation as a globally ranked university that provides an excellent educational experience with a significant societal impact.

UNIJOS, a renowned academic institution, has over 12 faculties offering relevant and relatable courses in various disciplines.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Business Administration include the following:

Five (5) SSCE credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, and Economics, plus any two (2) of Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography, and Statistics.

All five credits are accounted for. English Language, Mathematics and Economics are named, and the last two come from a list of six commercial and social science subjects.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.

  • English Language.
  • Mathematics
  • Economics and any one subject

The UTME form is looser than the credits above. Three papers are fixed as English Language, Mathematics and Economics, and the fourth is open to any subject at all rather than to the six listed earlier.

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Business Administration if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography, or Statistics.

Nothing here is compulsory, since both passes come from the same list. Note that it names Accounts and Business Management where the O Level list said Accounting and Business Methods, so check how your own qualification is titled.

Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks

UNIJOS accepts ND lower credit.

A National Diploma at lower credit is accepted, which is a gentler threshold than the upper credit several other UNIJOS departments ask for.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIJOS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 180 or above in your JAMB result.

The Same Subjects Under Different Names

Economics is the subject that holds this page together, named as a compulsory O Level credit, a compulsory UTME paper and an option at Direct Entry. English Language and Mathematics sit alongside it on the first two routes.

Around that core the lists drift in their wording, offering Accounting in one place and Accounts in another, Business Methods in one and Business Management in another. Treat them as the same family of commercial subjects, and score at least 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
