This is to notify the general public and all aspiring University of Jos (UNIJOS) students that the Department of Christian Religious Knowledge/Studies admission requirements has been published.
This course names its own subject at every stage, but it does not always use the same name for it. Below are the five O Level credits, the UTME combination, the Direct Entry condition and the score UNIJOS requires for screening.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Christian Religious Knowledge/Studies include the following:
Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, CRK, and three other relevant subjects.
Only English Language and CRK are named. The remaining three credits need only be relevant subjects, which is the loosest wording anywhere on this page.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Two Arts subjects including Christian Religious Knowledge and any other subject
That line accounts for all four UTME papers. English Language is compulsory, two Arts subjects follow and Christian Religious Knowledge has to be one of them, and the last slot is open to any subject.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Christian Religious Knowledge/Studies if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two ‘A’ level passes/NCE to include Christian Religious Studies/Religious Studies.
Read the wording closely. Direct Entry accepts Christian Religious Studies or Religious Studies, so a candidate whose qualification is titled simply Religious Studies is not shut out. An NCE is accepted in place of A Level passes.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIJOS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 180 or above in your JAMB result.
Religious Studies Counts, Not Just the Christian Paper
The subject at the centre of this course appears under three labels. It is CRK among the O Level credits, Christian Religious Knowledge on the JAMB form, and Christian Religious Studies or Religious Studies at Direct Entry.
That last pairing is the one that matters, because it means a plain Religious Studies qualification is accepted on the Direct Entry route. UTME candidates need English Language and CRK among their five credits, two Arts subjects on the form with CRK among them, and at least 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
