This is to notify the general public and all aspiring University of Jos (UNIJOS) students that the Department of Education and Integrated Science has published its admission requirements, which set out three separate Direct Entry routes rather than one.
Below are the five O Level credits the department asks for, the way the four UTME subjects are chosen, each of the Direct Entry qualifications it accepts, and the score you need to be invited for screening.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education & Integrated Science include the following:
Five SSCE credit passes, including Biology, Chemistry, English Language, and Mathematics.
Four of the five credits are named here. Biology, Chemistry, English Language and Mathematics are all compulsory, which leaves a single free place that any other credit can fill.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language.
- Any three of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Agricultural Science.
The UTME form works as a pick-three from five. Nothing on that list is individually compulsory, so Mathematics can be left off even though it is a required O Level credit, and Agricultural Science counts like the laboratory sciences.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Integrated Science if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- NCE Integrated Science
- NCE Science Education
- ‘A’ Level passes in two (2) Science subjects
These three are alternatives, not a checklist. Either NCE qualifies a candidate on its own, and the A Level route asks only that both passes be in Science subjects without naming which ones.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIJOS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 180 or above in your JAMB result.
An NCE in Integrated Science Is Enough on Its Own
The UTME route is the demanding one. Four named O Level credits, three science papers on the JAMB form and a score of at least 180 all have to come together before an application is considered for the 2026/2027 session.
Direct Entry asks for much less. An NCE in Integrated Science is listed as sufficient by itself, as is an NCE in Science Education, which opens the course to anyone already holding a college of education qualification.
