O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Computer Science;
You require; Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, and Physics, plus two other science subjects.
Three credits are named and the remaining two must still be sciences. A candidate relying on commercial or arts subjects to reach five credits will not satisfy this requirement.
Jamb Subject Combination
In UTME, the English Language is compulsory for this course. The three (3) other JAMB UTME subjects needed to study Computer Science under the Faculty of Sciences at UNN are listed below.
Mathematics, Physics and Biology, Chemistry, Agric Science, Economics, and Geography
Read that line as Mathematics and Physics followed by a list of options for the third subject. Economics and Geography appear among them, so the choice is not confined to the pure sciences at this stage.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Computer Science if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in science subjects, including Mathematics.
- NCE merit in Mathematics and one (1) other Science or Social Science subject
Both Direct Entry routes require Mathematics. The A Level route asks for science subjects alongside it, while the NCE route accepts a science or a social science as the partner subject.
Jamb Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNN for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 200 or above in your JAMB result.
The One Subject With No Alternative
Computer Science at UNN gives ground on almost everything except Mathematics. Physics is fixed at O Level and UTME, the third JAMB subject can be chosen from several fields, and the NCE route even allows a social science.
Mathematics alone is required everywhere. Hold it as a credit with English Language, Physics and two further sciences, register it for UTME, and score at least 200 in JAMB to reach screening.
