Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements

in UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Statistics under the Faculty of Sciences in the above Universities include;

Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, and Economics. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

(i) MAUTECH, OAU and UI – do not accept Economics.

(ii) BIU, BOWEN and KUST accept Mathematics and any two of Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

(iii) UI – Mathematics and any two science subjects.

(iv) IMSU – Mathematics and Physics are compulsory.

(v) UNILORIN – Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Geography.

(vi) UDUSOK accepts Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and Economics.

(vii) UNIPORT does not accept Geography.

(viii) ABU requires Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Geography, or Biology.

(ix) UNN requires Physics, Mathematics/Chemistry/ Economics/Biology/Geography.

(x) FUTA requires Physics, Mathematics and of Chemistry, Geography, Economics or Biology.

(xi) FED-LAFIA, LAUTECH,  FUTO, and UNAAB require Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

(xii) NTNU accepts any Science subjects.

(xiii) ABU requires Mathematics and any two of Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Geography.

(xiv) UNIBEN requires Mathematics, Economics and any other Science subject.

(xv) FUAM require Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

(xvi) UNIABUJA also accepts Biology and Geography.

 

O’Level Requirements

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Statistics; You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and at least three (3) subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

(i) UNIZIK and AAU accept  ‘O’ level passes in English Language.

(ii) BIU accepts any Science subject besides Mathematics and Physics.

(iii) UNN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and two (2) subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.

(iv) ABSU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and any three (3) of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology, Geography and Additional Mathematics.

(v) IMSU requires an ‘O’ level  credit pass in Physics and accepts an ‘O’ level pass in English Language.

(vi) UMUDIKE same as in Mathematics.

(vii) UI does not accept Economics as a Science Subject.

(viii) UI requires five (5) or six (6) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and any other three (3) Science subjects at one(1) or two (2) sittings.

(ix)    UNIPORT requires Chemistry, Physics and any one (1) of Biology, Geography or Economics.

(x)    BASU and OAU do not accept Economics and Geography.

(xi)   UMUDIKE requires ‘O’ level credit  passes  in Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry, and   Biology

(xii)  AAU requires subjects listed for the UTME in addition to English Language and Mathematics. 

(xiii)  KWARARAFA requires an ‘O’ level credit pass in Physics.

(xiv)    RENAISSANCE requires Further Mathematics.

(xv)    FUNAAB requires Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.  The University does not accept Economics as a UTME subject.

(xvi)    ABU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, and three (3) other subjects, two (2) of which must be from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics, and Geography.

(xvii) UNICAL requires, in addition to the general entry requirements, candidates must have ‘O’/level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. ‘O’ level credit pass in Further Mathematics will be an advantage.

(xviii) EKSU does not accept NCE for Direct Entry.

(xix) FUTA requires English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Economics, Geography and Biology.

(xx)   ABSU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any three (3) of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology, Geography, and Additional Mathematics

(xxi) FED-WUKARI – Same as in Physics.

(xxiii) KSUSTA does not accept Statistics and Further Mathematics.

(xxiv)   FED-LAFIA and LAUTECH require five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

(xxv) FUTO requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other Science subject at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xxvi) MAKURDI – Same as in Mathematics/Computer Science.

(xxvii) MAUTECH requires three (3) other ‘O’ level  credit passes from Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Computer Studies, and IT/Data Processing 

(xxviii) FUTMINNA requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, and Physics with any two (2) of Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing

Direct Entry Requirements

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Statistics if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Mathematics or Statistics. NCE credit in relevant subjects

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

(i) OAU  requires Physics or Chemistry in addition to Mathematics.

(ii) RHEMA and UNIILORIN accept NCE merit in Mathematics or ND in Statistics.  

(iii) UNIUYO accepts ND upper credit, HND lower credit, and NCE merit in relevant program/subject plus the UTME requirements.

(iv) UI  accepts (a)  two (2) ‘A’ level subjects to include Mathematics plus five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes, including English Language.

(v) UNIILORIN accepts ND with the UTME requirements. Also accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes in  Mathematics and any of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, and   Geography.

(vi) ABSU -No Direct Entry.

(vii) IMSU accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes, including Mathematics/Statistics, ND in Statistics from a recognized institution

(ix)   KUST accepts ND/HND in Statistics or relevant programs.

(x)   UNIJOS does not accept Diplomas in Computer  Science.

(xi)   FUTO requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes not below Grade C in Mathematics and any other Science subject.  It also accepts ND/HND upper Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and Engineering credits.  Candidates must in addition, meet the UTME  requirements.  It does not accept First Degree or NCE.

(xii) MAUTECH accepts two (2) `’A’ level passes or its equivalent in Mathematics and any one (1) of Physics/Chemistry/Statistics/ Economics/Geography.

(xiii) WESLEYUNI, same as in Mathematics.  

(xiv) FUNAAB accepts

a) ND upper credit in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related programmes.

b) NCE credit in relevant subjects plus the UTME requirements. c) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Statistics, Physics, and Mathematics.

(xv) FUTA accepts  

a. two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and at least one (1) subject from Physics, Economics, Geography, Chemistry and Biology.

b. ND upper credit in Statistics from recognized institutions c. NCE merit in Mathematics and any other Physical Science subject.  

(xvi) UNN accepts

(a) two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Mathematics or Statistics plus the UTME requirements.

(b)  NCE credit in relevant subjects plus the UTME requirement.  

(c) UNN accepts ND upper credit, HND lower credit, and NCE merit in relevant subjects/programmes plus the UTME requirements.  

(xvii) KSUSTA accepts ‘A’ level passes in relevant subjects such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and Physics in addition to ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, or Geography. It also accepts ND/HND credit in relevant programs and the UTME requirements. 

(xviii) NTNU – Same as in Computer Science.

(xix) LAUTECH accepts

a. two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and one (1) subject from Physics, Economics, Geography, Chemistry, and Biology. a. ND upper credit in Statistics  from a recognized institution

b. NCE credit in Mathematics and any other Physical Science subject. 

(xx) ABU accepts

a. ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Mathematics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, and Geology.

b. NCE Mathematics/ Statistics with any of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, and Geology

(xxi) UNIBEN, in addition to the UTME requirements, may  consider

(a)  two (2) ‘A’ level passes in any of the recognized equivalents by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two (2) sittings. The subjects should include Mathematics/Statistics and any other Science or relevant Social Science subjects, Economics, Accounting, Geography, and Business Studies.

(b) ND upper credit in Mathematics/Statistics and other Science or relevant Social Science subjects in B (i) above from any recognized Polytechnic or Colleges of Technology by the Senate of the University of Benin. (b)  ND HND lower credit  as in B (iv) above

(c) NCE merit in Mathematics/Statistics and other Science or relevant Social Science subjects from a recognized College of Education by the Senate of the University of Benin.  In addition, candidates should have an overall merit grade

(xxii) BSU – same as in Mathematics.  , Same as in Computer Science.

(xxiii) UNIABUJA accepts two (2) ‘A’ level  passes in Mathematics and either Physics and/or Chemistry  OR NCE (minimum 10 points) with  credit  in Mathematics and another Science subject OR ND upper credit in Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer science

(xxiv) MCPHERSON accepts a) ‘A’ level/ND upper credit /HND lower credit or its equivalent in Mathematics and any one (1) of Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Statistics and Physics. b)  JUPEB/IJMB ‘A’ level or equivalent in related subjects
