Education and Computer Science is a combined degree run by the Faculty of Education at Sokoto State University (SSU). Mathematics is the subject that carries the application, appearing in the O’Level credits and again in the UTME combination.
The science requirement runs through every route, but each route defines it slightly differently. Reading all three before you register is the only way to be sure your subjects will be accepted at the stage that matters.
Confirm that Education and Computer Science appears on the current SSU course list and that your JAMB registration names it correctly. A course entered in error cannot be assessed against these conditions.

The Sokoto State University (SSU) is located in Sokoto State, Nigeria.
It was established in 2009 as part of a motivated effort on the part of the Sokoto State to satisfy the quest of the people of the state for excellence and education.
It began as the Sokoto State University School of Developmental Studies, which ran a one-year degree program to prepare students for the University.
Admission Requirements for Education and Computer Science
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Computer Science is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, and three (3) other Science subjects.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and Computer Science at SSU include Mathematics, Physics, and any in Biology, Chemistry, or Geography.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Computer Science if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Physics or Chemistry.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into SSU for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Mathematics Carries the SSU Education and Computer Science Application
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language and three other science subjects. Two papers are named and the remaining three are open, provided they come from the sciences.
The UTME combination tightens that. English Language is compulsory, Mathematics and Physics are fixed, and the third subject may be Biology, Chemistry or Geography. Geography is the one non-laboratory subject accepted anywhere on this page.
Direct Entry is stated more briefly and does not mention Mathematics at all. Two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes are required in Physics or Chemistry, which makes it the narrowest of the three routes.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at SSU. Clearing it allows a candidate to be screened rather than guaranteeing a place on the programme.
